How to Make Facebook and Instagram Ads From One Product Photo
One still should feed Reels, Stories, and feed — not three separate shoots.
This is the Meta version of TikTok ads from a product photo. Product page: Facebook & Instagram ads without filming.
Sizes first, so you do not crop the product off
| Placement | Size | First three seconds |
|---|---|---|
| Reels / Stories | 9:16 | Product or hook immediately |
| Feed | 4:5 | Product large, less jump-cut |
| Right-hand / leftover | 1:1 | Safe center crop |
Generate from the center-weighted product photo. If the label lives on the left edge, 9:16 will shave it off.
Creative: UGC first
Meta’s auctions are full of UGC-shaped ads because they hold thumb-stop better than studio spots. Start there: UGC without hiring creators. Add a product-demo cut from product photo to video so you are not betting the account on talking-heads only.
Three hooks, three files, one ad set. 48 hours. Kill one. Duplicate the winner into Reels-only and feed-only if you have budget to split.
What not to do
- One 16:9 “master” with black bars
- A five-product montage
- A landing page with no video when the ad was video (the PDP should move too — Shopify product videos)
- Changing the creative and the audience on the same day, then calling the test “done”
Make the first batch from the still you have: Facebook and Instagram ads from a product photo.
